After a pause that seemed to stretch interminably, her voice came through the phone again, tinged with concern. "Honey, you mad?" she asked, her tone reflecting her uncertainty about my reaction.

Her question snapped me out of my shock. I quickly gathered my thoughts and responded, trying to mask my complex feelings with enthusiasm. "Of course not! Tell me more," I urged her, prompting her to continue sharing her experience, eager to hear the details despite the swirl of emotions I felt inside.

My eagerness to hear every detail about the event made her giggle. It reminded me of a teenager excited to talk about their first time. Although it wasn't her actual first time—I had that distinction—it was clearly a first in many other respects. She started to tell me about the events that unfolded on her date. The warmth built up on my ear as I pressed the phone closer to listen. She recounted how he had picked her up, and they had gone out for dinner and, inevitably, dancing. She explained that she had reassured herself they were just friends and that nothing would happen.; however, they eventually began making out again, then moved on to some heavy petting and finally sex at our house.

I pressed her for every detail, but she was hesitant and clearly intoxicated. Frustrated by her vague descriptions and scant details, I could hear the sleepiness in her voice and sensed that her drunkenness would soon lead her into deep sleep. So, I decided to ask my final question for the night. The question would be simple. Which room did they have sex in? I pictured her in our bed, the very place where we had shared countless intimate moments, a symbol of our closeness. The thought stirred a familiar mix of emotions within me, a cocktail I found strangely enticing. Despite a small part of me dreading her confirmation, I couldn't help feeling somewhat let down when she revealed that they, in fact, hadn't made it to the bedroom. Apparently, they had barely crossed the threshold before their clothes came off. "When we went to kiss goodbye, that was when it got really heated.
